The Medicare Advantage program (also known as Medicare Part C) is an alternative to traditional Medicare, while enjoying additional benefits that traditional Medicare, like routine dental and vision care or prescription drug coverage, doesn’t cover. Some plans also offer fitness benefits.
Suppose you’re interested in signing up for a Medicare Advantage plan. In that case, you can do so during the initial enrollment period when you first become eligible for Medicare (at age 65) or during the annual open enrollment period (from October 15 to December 7).
In Oregon, there are 132+ Medicare Advantage plans available for 2025 - 2026. The average monthly premium is $48, but this will depend on the specific plan you choose, as well as your income and location.
Though you can use the Plan Finder tool on Medicare.gov to help you compare and find the best option for you all by yourself, we recommend you work with a health insurance broker for the following reasons:
The open enrollment period for Medicare starts October 15 and ends on December 7 each year in Oregon.
With a broker, you have someone to help you find the Medicare Advantage plans in Oregon that match your specific health needs and lifestyle. We can, for example, help you locate plans that offer coverage for services like chiropractic care, dental and vision benefits, or $0 copays for Tier 1 generics—features that are not standard across all plans and may vary widely by ZIP code.
In addition to Medicare Advantage plans, we also help you explore Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) plans, which are designed to work alongside Original Medicare, so this goes in a totally different direction than and Advantage plan. These plans cover the out-of-pocket costs that Medicare Part A and Part B don’t—such as deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments—and can provide peace of mind if you want predictable healthcare expenses and nationwide provider access.
As independent brokers, we offer:
Whether you're looking for comprehensive coverage through a bundled Medicare Advantage plan or prefer the flexibility and predictability of a Medigap + Part D combo, our job is to simplify your decision and make sure your plan fits your needs.
Make sure to choose a Medicare plan that covers your prescription.
