If you buy your own health insurance in Deschutes County, your plan may be ending. Three insurance companies (Moda, PacificSource and Providence) won't offer individual and family plans here in 2027. Providence is also ending its Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans. Here's what's changing, what you need to do, and the dates that matter.
Call (541) 668-5687
• PacificSource: Leaving Oregon's individual market in every county for 2027. Members get a notice about 180 days before their plan ends. PacificSource Medicare Advantage, employer group and Oregon Health Plan coverage are not affected. (Source: Bend Bulletin, Aug 26, 2026; Oregon DFR)
• Providence Health Plan: Individual and family plans end December 31, 2026, statewide. (Source: Providence Health Plan status update)
• Moda Health: Individual plans end January 1, 2027 in Deschutes, Crook, Klamath, Lake, Marion, Polk, Umatilla and Union counties. (Source: Oregon DFR; Central Oregon Daily News)
Who's left in 2027: individual plans in Deschutes and Crook counties will come from two companies, BridgeSpan and Regence. Jefferson County will have three (BridgeSpan, Moda and Regence). Oregon's approved average individual-market rate increase for 2027 is 21.6%.
About 6,450 Deschutes County residents had individual-market plans in early 2026 (Bend Bulletin, citing state data).

• Providence Medicare Advantage: Won't be offered in 2027. Coverage continues through December 31, 2026. (Source: Providence Health Plan status update)
• Providence Medicare Supplement: Coverage ends March 31, 2027. Members should choose a new Medicare Supplement plan effective April 1, 2027. (Source: Providence Health Plan status update)
• PacificSource Medicare Advantage: Still offered in Central Oregon for 2027, but only three plans (Oregon Basic, Cascade Classic Rx and Cascade Premier Rx). Several 2026 plans, including Essentials Choice Rx 14, Essentials Rx 27 and Essentials Choice Rx 36, aren't offered here in 2027, so those members need to choose a new plan. Check your Annual Notice of Change letter. (Source: Council on Aging of Central Oregon; PacificSource)

1. Read your insurer's notice. It shows your plan's end date. Keep it, because it's proof of losing coverage.
2. Know the automatic match. Oregon's marketplace has matched affected members with a plan from another insurer for automatic re-enrollment. That plan might not include your doctors, hospital or prescriptions, or have the lowest cost for you. You can choose a different plan.
3. Compare 2027 plans starting November 1, 2026 on Explore Health (ExploreHealthOR.gov), Oregon's new marketplace. You can preview plans now with the free Explore Health Plan Guide.
4. Enroll by December 31, 2026 for coverage starting January 1, 2027, with no gap. (We suggest finishing by mid-December.)
5. If you're in active treatment (pregnancy, cancer care, surgery, ongoing prescriptions), contact your new insurer early about continuity of care.
6. Last chance: open enrollment ends January 15, 2027. If you enroll January 1–15, coverage starts February 1, 2027. If your plan ends on another date, losing coverage generally gives you a 60-day Special Enrollment Period.
If you have a Providence Medicare Advantage plan
1. Choose a new plan by December 7, 2026, during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7, 2026), so new coverage starts January 1, 2027.
2. If you miss December 7: because your plan isn't renewing, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period from December 8, 2026 through February 28, 2027. You may also have a guaranteed right to buy certain Medicare Supplement policies.
3. If you don't pick a plan, you'll return to Original Medicare and may be left without drug coverage. Choosing a plan avoids that gap.
4. Options we can help with: a PacificSource Medicare Advantage plan, or Original Medicare plus a Mutual of Omaha or Regence BlueCross BlueShield Medicare Supplement and a HealthSpring Part D plan. We'll also show you other plans on Medicare.gov's Plan Finder.
If you have a Providence Medicare Supplement plan
1. Your coverage ends March 31, 2027.
2. Choose a new Medicare Supplement plan to start April 1, 2027. We represent Mutual of Omaha and Regence BlueCross BlueShield Medicare Supplements. Ask us about guaranteed-issue rights when a Medigap insurer stops coverage.
